BIOGRAPHICAL PAGE I began piano
lessons as a young girl of 7 years. My mother says that I loved to practice,
but I'm not so sure about that. I had a wonderful teacher who inspired
me to play and I enjoyed doing it. She was not an educated teacher,
but loved music and brought out the best in me. I continued with my
music through my life, studying with a number of different teachers.
Once the twins were in kindergarten, I decided to go back to school and finish my degree. It had been many years, but the university allowed the credits in music and declared my major complete. I had already completed my private piano requirements and had passed into the advanced courses which was a bonus for me. My major was complete. All I had to do was update my General Education courses to the current levels. Though the number of classes was not a huge number, it took me from 1990 until 2004 to finish them as I only took 1 or 2 at a time. FINALLY, in August of 2004, I, with many of my family, drove to Provo, Utah, and I donned my cap and gown and walked across the stage of the concert hall in the Harris Fine Arts Building at Brigham Young University to receive my Bachelor's of Arts in Music I thoroughly enjoy music and consider it one of the joys of my life. I have taught piano for over a total of 20 years and have gained a lot of insight and knowledge during that time. I also thoroughly enjoy teaching music to children and adults and passing on that love of music that I have to them. I always tell them that they can learn notes and play the piano or they can create beautiful music. It is always much more fun to create something beautiful. I hope to continue to teach for many years. The addition of our new "family member," in the form of a Steinway Grand Piano, is a blessing and a fulfilled dream for me. It is a joy to sit down and play and I hope my students feel the same way. We hope to add other instruments and a computer lab in the future. Meanwhile, it is my desire that I may help add to my student's enjoyment of music and increase their abilities to learn.
